In earning the DMAP accreditation, the Galveston Island Convention & Visitors Bureau has been recognized within the destination marketing community for providing outstanding services in accordance with international standards and benchmarks in the field. It becomes one of just 153 destination marketing organizations in the world to receive the DMAP accreditation.
“Earning DMAP accreditation tells the Galveston community and potential visitors that this destination marketing organization has attained a measure of excellence assuring that their trust is well placed and their business in good hands,” said DMAP Board Chair Shelly Green.
The Galveston Island CVB is the official destination marketing organization of Galveston, Texas – a premier leisure and meetings destination located on the Gulf of Mexico just 50 miles south of Houston. The CVB is made up of a staff of marketing, convention sales, public relations and special event management professionals who work to develop the economic vitality of Galveston’s tourism industry.

DMAP accreditation standards cover a wide variety of topics including governance, finance, management, human resources, technology, visitor services, group services, sales, communications, membership, brand management, destination development, research/market intelligence, innovation and stakeholder relationships.
