Passport Program Allows Visitors to Keep Track of Galveston Holiday Events
Nov. 10 – Jan. 1 While Earning the Chance to Win a Cruise on the Disney Magic
GALVESTON, Texas (November 10, 2012) – With tonight’s opening of Festival of Lights at Moody Gardens, the holiday season in Galveston is officially underway. So is the island’s new Passport to Holiday Magic promotion, which allows visitors to easily keep track of Galveston’s many holiday events while earning the chance to win a Disney Magic cruise for four.
Here’s how the passport program works:

- Anyone can download the free passport at www.galveston.com/holidaymagic
- Visitors can take their passport to get stamped at five or more participating holiday events and attractions throughout the season
- When the passport is completed, guests can drop off their passports to the Galveston Island Visitors Center at Ashton Villa (2328 Broadway Avenue) or mail it to P.O. Box 1080, Galveston, TX 77553 by January 1, 2013
- All completed passports will be entered into drawings for Galveston getaways, attractions gift certificates and the grand prize of a cruise for four on the Disney Magic
The Passport to Holiday Magic promotion coincides with the launch of a major new holiday event in
Galveston – Lasers, Lights & Magic in the Park. At this event Nov. 24- Dec. 31, visitors to downtown Galveston will see free nightly laser light shows and can text to make it snow in Saengerfest Park.
The 11th annual Festival of Lights at Moody Gardens will be the first Passport to Holiday Magic event to begin. The opening ceremony will start at 4 p.m. today with a variety of live performances followed by a special visit from a parachuting Santa – who is set to arrive by 6 p.m. to flip the switch to turn on Moody Gardens’ mile-long trail of more than a million lights. Festival of Lights will continue throughout the holiday season Thursdays through Saturdays from Nov. 16 to Dec. 8 before opening nightly Dec. 13 until Jan. 5. For details, visit www.moodygardens.org.
