Regional partners along with the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) are kicking off an ambitious two-year project to develop a plan for the 13-county area. Organizers are inviting the public to get involved in the effort by attending the first community meeting on February 2. Feedback from area residents will help determine plan goals and priorities.
Houston Galveston Regional Plan Kick Off Meeting
Thursday, February 2
6:00PM – 8:00PM
Garten Verein
2704 Avenue O
Galveston Island
This unprecedented effort to develop a regional plan for the 13-county Texas Gulf Coast region will explore opportunities to improve the region’s most significant resources:
- Affordable Housing
- Clean Air and Water
- Good Jobs
- Open Spaces and Parks
- Safe and Attractive Neighborhoods Transportation Choices
More than six million people call this region home and as many as four million new people could live in the area by 2040. The first phase of the plan will focus on setting goals and a vision for the region and its communities. Later phases will look at different ways that the region can grow and develop strategies to encourage sustainable, economically competitive places for current and future residents.
