The Texas General Land Office (GLO)
has announced the City of Galveston’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Round 1 Disaster Recovery Housing Program will now be under the management of URS Corporation. URS is working with the City and former program administrator CDM to conduct an orderly transition over the next 60 days.
Over the last several weeks city staff has been working directly with home owners participating in the program, inspecting homes under construction, and paying contractors for completed work. During the transition, work on homes already under construction will continue.
After the initial 30-day assessment phase is complete, the program will implement policy changes to facilitate application processing and construction during the subsequent 30-day recovery phase. It is anticipated that the modified program will resume normal operations this April. New program staff will work to quickly to serve homeowners and successfully complete Galveston’s CDBG Round 1 Disaster Recovery Housing program.
Homeowners are asked to contact the City of Galveston’s Grants and Housing Department with questions about the status of their home. The Grants and Housing Department is open Monday-Friday, 8AM – 5PM. Please call 409-797-3820 to reach the department or visit the staff at 905 25th Street.
