A rainy, breezy Sunday, but some sunshine likely on Monday

Current Outlook

(Tropical Outlook Below)

We will see a good chance of showers this morning, slowly decreasing this afternoon and evening as an upper-level disturbance moves off to the east today. Meanwhile, high pressure and cool air will continue to flow into a cool front now stalled over the western Gulf of Mexico.

This morning’s weather map shows a stalled cold front extending northward over the western Gulf of Mexico. The front becomes an active front south of Louisiana where it extends north to a low over West Virginia and connects with another cold front over North Carolina. High pressure dominates the northern and central Rockies with another cold front approaching the Pacific Northwest. The upper-level map shows a large upper-level low centered over southwestern Utah with a low pressure trough extending southwest into Baja California. This is bringing southwest winds aloft over Texas. Another low pressure trough is digging south into the Great Lakes region while an upper-level high has developed over Montana.

Looking ahead, the cold front will remained stalled off the coast of Texas while cool air continues to flow into Texas. An upper-level disturbance moving east across Texas today should move out of the area by early tomorrow, allowing sunshine to return to southeast Texas on Monday. Unfortunately, the upper-level trough over the southwestern U.S.is expected to deepen by Tuesday or Wednesday, allowing more upper-level disturbance to move over the region and bringing clouds and a chance of rain back to our area by the middle to later part of this coming wee
