Current Outlook
(Tropical Outlook Below)
Our rainy spell will continue awhile longer as deep moisture flows into southeast Texas from the Gulf of Mexico, an upper-level trough provides an unstable upper-atmosphere and an approaching cold front moves east through Texas.
This morning’s weather map shows a warm front over east Texas extending north to a low in Oklahoma. A cold front is pushing southeast from the low through the Texas Panhandle and New Mexico. High pressure sits over the northern Rockies and Plains and also much of the East with a high pressure center located over West Virginia. The upper-level map shows a large upper-level low and low pressure trough over the Rockies and southwest U.S. High pressure continues to push into Florida with another low pressure trough located in the Atlantic east of New England.
Looking ahead, the cold front will move southeast through Texas and off the coast tomorrow. Clouds and rain will persist ahead of the front as the upper-level low sends weak disturbances aloft over the region. Clouds and rain will tend to linger through Sunday as warm air aloft on the east side of the upper-low flows over the cooler air at the surface. We may see some clearing by Monday or Tuesday as the low weakens and drier air flows into the area. Clouds will return by the middle of next week as the onshore flow returns and an upper-level low pressure trough re-develops over the West.
