Current Outlook
(Tropical Outlook Below)
Cool weather and cloudy to partly cloudy skies will prevail for through the end of the week. We may see a slight chance of showers tomorrow and on Friday as an weak disturbances move east across the region.
This morning’s weather map shows high pressure over the Plains from South Dakota to the Texas Panhandle. High pressure also sites over the Great Basin area. A cold front is pushing south in the Atlantic east of North Carolina, while another cold front and surface low is moving east into Southern and Baja California. The upper-level map shows a large upper low pressure low over Baja California with a low pressure dipping to the south over the Ohio Valley. A weak high pressure ridge sits over Idaho.
Looking ahead, high pressure will continue to funnel cool, dry air into Texas while the upper-level low over Baja California deepens and slowly shifts a little to the east. This will push southwest winds aloft over our area and keep clouds in our picture through the weekend. Weak disturbances moving east from the upper-low and trough will produce rain showers over Texas with the best chances for rain remaining south of Galveston. A reinforcing push of cooler air will keep temperatures on the cool side through the weekend. The big question will be chances for rain during the first weekend of Mardi Gras. It appears that the best chances for rain will be on Friday and Sunday, with possibly a break on Saturday.
