Current Outlook–Tropical Outlook Below
Partly cloudy and mild weather will prevail through tomorrow as southerly winds bring low-level moisture back into southeast Texas ahead of an eastward moving storm system. We should see an increased chance of showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday as the upper-low and surface front move east into Texas and the Great Plains. This morning’s weather map shows a surface low pressure system and trough approaching Southern California. A couple of weak fronts are sagging southeast over the Plains from Colorado to southern Canada. Another front is approaching the Pacific Northwest. The upper-level map shows a weak low pressure trough over the Plains with a deep upper-level low southwest of Southern California. A high pressure ridge sits over the Gulf of Mexico.
Looking ahead, the upper-level low and trough will gradually move east, with the upper-low transforming back into an open trough. Meanwhile, the surface trough and low will move into Texas, setting off thunderstorms over the state on Tuesday. looking further down the road, a fairly decent shot of cool air will edge into southeast Texas by the later part of this coming week.

Tropical Outlook
The Tropical Atlantic Basin remains quiet overall and no tropical development is expected over the coming 48-hours. The main feature we are watching in the Tropics is a cluster of convection in the southwest Caribbean Sea north of Panama. This is associated with a 1009 MB that is mostly stationary. Most models suggest that the low will eventually drift west over Panama.
