Typical July weather to continue with plenty of sunshine and a few isolated thundershowers

Current Outlook

An upper-level low along the middle Texas coast is enhancing shower activity a little this morning, but mostly we will see more of the same sunny, hot weather that we’ve experienced so far this month. This morning’s surface weather map has changed little from yesterday with a stalled cool front stretching from southeast Colorado, east to North Carolina. At the upper-levels, a high pressure ridge continues over the Southwest, while an upper-level low continues to drift slowly west into the middle Texas coast. This low will improve shower chances slightly today and tomorrow.

Looking ahead, the upper-level low will move slowly inland over Texas by early this coming week and high pressure will rebuild somewhat over the region. This will mean slightly hotter temperatures and lower rain chances throughout much of next week. The upper-low may actually rotate back into our area by next weekend, increasing shower activity again. Mostly, though, we are looking at more mostly sunny, summer weather.

Tropical Outlook

After the flare-up of activity this week, the Tropical Atlantic Basin has become quite tranquil with almost no convection of note across the region. This morning we find some convection along the coast of Belize and a small cluster of storms along the African coast. Otherwise, there is little of interest across the entire Basin and tropical storm development is not expected over the coming 48-hours.
