Current Outlook
(Tropical Outlook Below)
Windy conditions and much cooler weather are in the picture for today as a strong cold front pushes off the Texas coast and high pressure builds in from the northwest. Clouds will linger behind the front, though we may see some sun this afternoon. Rain chances will increase tomorrow as a large upper-level low moves east from Mexico.
This morning’s weather map shows a strong cold front extending from an area of low pressure just south of the Great Lakes, southeast across the northwest Gulf of Mexico to just north of Brownsville and then west to Arizona. A large area of high pressure extends from Colorado to eastern Oregon. Elsewhere, a warm front is pushing north towards New England while another cold front is dipping south into Minnesota and North Dakota. The upper-level map shows a broad low pressure trough extending south from northern Minnesota to Oklahoma. A deep upper-level low is situated over southwestern Mexico, with a high pressure ridge developing along the West Coast.
Looking ahead, cold high pressure will continue to build into Texas behind the cold front. Meanwhile, the upper-low over Mexico will continue to track to the east. This should keep mostly cloudy skies in place through Saturday with a decent chance of light rain on Saturday. Skies should begin to clear out by Sunday as the low moves east, but clouds may increase again on Monday and Tuesday as the high moves east and east to southeast winds return to our area. Overall, it looks like a cool weekend for southeast Texas.
